RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION TO BRUCE P. MILLER UPON HIS RETIREMENT
RESOLUTION #03-327
WHEREAS, Bruce P. Miller began work on August 31, 1979, as the Director of Clinical Services with the Ingham County Health Department and became the Deputy Director for Health Care Services in 2002; and
WHEREAS, Bruce, through his dedication and heartfelt commitment to improve the health and well being of the public, has lead the growth and evolution of the Health Department's clinical services into a network of community health centers, including eleven clinical units which have been awarded Federally Qualified Health Center "look-alike" status; and
WHEREAS, the network of community health centers has the responsibility for managing the primary care of more than 20,000 Ingham County residents and provides a continuum of health care services to Ingham County residents who have no other access to care; and
WHEREAS, Bruce began advocacy in the mid-1990's for Ingham County to pursue the goal of assuring that all Ingham County residents have access to an organized system of health care; and
WHEREAS, Bruce's advocacy lead to the Ingham County Board of Commissioners adopting a shared vision of assuring access to health care for County residents; and
WHEREAS, the vision of creating health care access for County residents lead to the establishment of the Ingham Health Plan Corporation in October 1998; and
WHEREAS, Bruce has worked tirelessly to administer the day to day operation of Ingham Health Plan since its inception, resulting in a novel public/private partnership that provides health care coverage for over 15,000 individuals who represent more that half of the residents of Ingham County currently lacking health insurance.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the citizens of Ingham County, acknowledges that the community has greatly benefited from Bruce P. Miller's vision, creativity and energy and applauds with gratitude Bruce's contributions to foster the health and well being of Ingham County residents during his nearly 25 years of employment with the County of Ingham.
